CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
BEGINNING MACHINE QUILTING - 6 hours
Learn the basics of machine quilting in this four hour class. We will cover needles, thread, quilting patterns and more. Polish up your skills or learn new ones.
APPLIQUE IN A DAY - 6 hours, $10 lab fee
Learn several applique techniques in one day, from freezer paper to needle turn. And the best part is you only need to bring scissors as all supplies will be provided in the kit purchased on the day of the class.
RAW EDGE LANDSCAPE - 6 hours
Free your creativity with raw edge applique. Learn the techniques needed by making a landscape quilt using my pattern. But you won’t want to stop there. After this class, you will be ready and eager to tackle your own raw edge landscape.
RED SWIRL (Montana Cartwheel) - 6 hours
Paper piecing with freezer paper is the secret to making this quilt which uses a variety of different fabrics for a scrappy look. It will look great in batiks, brights or your favorite fabrics.
FABRIC VESSELS - 6 hours, one session
Something different to make out of fabric from our stashes. Pick out some favorite batiks or hand dyes to make a stunning fabric bowl. After learning the technique, you can experiment with different shapes. Adorning it with beads adds to it’s appeal but that’s another class.
CHOP SHOP - 6 hours
Taking a simple nine patch block, we are going to turn it into “art quilt” by slicing and dicing and adding sashing. It will be fun and easy and we may even have time to do some quilting. So bring your machine and some of your fabric stash and join me for a good time at this workshop.
45 DEGREE DIAMOND MAGIC (Also known as the LeMoyne Star) - 6 hours
Learn the Stack ’n Whack method for making the traditional quilt block, LeMoyne Star. Using one stunning fabric, make star blocks that are each individual and distinctive.
60 DEGREE TRIANGLE MAGIC - 6 hours
Stack and Whack is fun because you never know how your blocks are going to turn out until you sew them together. This method can make blocks that are either stars or hexagons.
FEATHERED STAR VARIATION - 6 hours, two sessions
A fun variation of the feathered star block. We paper piece the blocks so that the feathers are a breeze and so accurate. I teach paper piecing with Marsha McCloskey’s freezer paper method. No picking off paper when the piecing is done.
FABRIC PAINTING WORKSHOP - 6 hours
This is a workshop in which you will learn various fabric painting techniques using different kinds of fabric paint. (limit 4 students)
FISH FROLIC - 4 hours
Fishes gotta swim and you can too. Learn how to do raw edge applique with this fun and bright fish quilt.
MARINER'S COMPASS - 6 hours
Learn several varieties of Mariner's compasses and Judy Mathison's easy and fun way to construct a compass using freezer paper.

TRANSFORMATIONS: FROM TRADITIONAL TO ART QUILTS
This lecture is a trunk show of quilts showing my transition from creating traditional quilts. I bring at least 42 items that illustrate my transformation to an art quilter. I can only do this lecture within driving distance from my home.
HOW TO GET HERE FROM THERE
This lecture is a digital slide show that outlines the process I goes through to take an idea from conception to finished quilt. Bringing a quilt to life can be easy and quick but is often difficult and slow. I has experienced both and hope you will join me as I detail my trials, tribulations, and satisfactions on creating several of my recent quilts.
